Hey guys! For this weeks blog topic I am going to be talking about three challenges I have faced so far in media. A big first one for me is having to teach a new person because this is still only my second year and I think I could use some more practice. Secondly radios have never been a strong spot for me. Lastly I news story's have always not been my favorite project.
So being a second year student it is my turn to mentor a new student. I want to be a great teacher and teach them everything to be great student. I think maybe I could use a little more practice in some areas of media which makes me nervous for teaching. I think I am going to try to learn as much as possible in the first quarter with carter that way when it comes around time for me to teach I will be fine. I can also ask other returnees if I need any help teaching.
Last year I always struggled with radios. Every time me and Kallen had to do them we did them very close to the deadline and it was really stressful. This year I am going to start contacting schools before the month that I should be that way I can be ultra prepared. I am also going to be early with the first one just in case shayne has any trouble when we record.
News stories never have been one of my favorite topics. The whole idea of finding a story just never clicked with me. I have always needed to do a lot of stuff at the last minute which was stressful. Plus I have never been the best making phone calls. This year I plan to get stuff done really early. So I have time to make little changes that I may need.
In conclusion this year is going to be a little hard. First if all I need to teach a new student. Secondly I have to do radios which has never been my good spot. Thirdly I need to do two news stories which have never been my tough spots.
Hey guys! For this weeks blog I am going to be doing a project update. We are a little behind for three reasons. First off we need to get a lot more b-roll and another interview. Secondly we still need to re-edit. Lastly we need to change our story.
In the summer camp we had to get all of our footage in a little time frame. That didn't give us too much time to get enough b-roll. We still had enough b-roll to fill our whole project. We got a little b-roll from Taylor and Mia because they can't use any of the b-roll they got from puka dog. It helps but it is still not enough. We also need another interview with a customer.
We got feedback from Hiki No and they told us to re edit our story. We need to add a good sound byte in the beginning to capture the audiences attention. We also need to have more sequences.
Hiki No also told us to change our story. We need to add new key points and base our story on a different idea. We need new b-roll to fit the way Hiki No wanted us to change our story too. We also need a good interview with a customer to fit the new story.
In conclusion me and Carter need to do a lot of things for our project. First of all we need to get more b-roll. Secondly we need to re-edit our whole project. Lastly we need to re do our story.
Hey guys! For this weeks free blog topic I am going to be talking about a video I found about kauai from a filmmaker called devinsupertramp. I thought this video was awesome, check it out.
I love this video because the shots are amazing, it really captures the sacredness of the island. The music is really fitting giving the video a tropical feel. All of the shots were very steady and the quality is amazing. I lived the time lapses from the top of the mountain I thought they looked amazing. All the sunset pictures really make the piece look amazing. In addition I love how the included all sides of the island. I also love how the included all of the fun things that they did like jumping of rocks and rope swings. I also love all the shots of the pier it's almost like a silhouette, it really looks awesome. The fact that they included wildlife is really cool as well. I love seeing popular filmmakers come to our island and film pieces like these.
Hey guys! For this weeks blog topic I am going to be talking about three goals for the first quarter. The first goal is to teach Shayne about all the things he has to know to be successful. My second goal is to not miss any blogs this quarter. My third goal is to have at least 3 drafts of my 1st quarter project.
Last year I was lucky to have a great partner like Kallen to teach my everything. Although he did not teach my how to edit until the third quarter. One thing that I am very thankful for was Kallen teaching me how to use the Tascam, because a lot of students don't know how to use it. I want to teach Shayne everything early on so he is very prepared.
My second goal is to not miss any blogs. Last year I missed 1 blog every quarter and for the 4th quarter I missed 2 which affected my grade. I want to not miss a single blog this quarter. This goes along with another side goal I have which is to get A's in all my classes because to get an A in media I need to do all my blogs.
Last year me and Kallen got our 1st quarter project a month late which made us get a pretty bad grade. I want me and Carter to do really good on this project so I am going to work my hardest to get three drafts done. With that many drafts I think we can improve a lot. I have seen lots of storys and I have seen that the ones with multiple drafts are the best.
To sum it all up with each quarter comes new goals. I have learned from my mistakes and seen what I need to be great in this class. For this quarter I want to teach Shayne how to be an awesome student in this class. I want to not miss a blog this quarter. I also want to have three drafts on my 1st quarter project.
