Last week I was able to attend the first STN practice. Overall I learned a lot and I'm glad I went. To start off I learned about how important deadlines are. In addition I learned how much stress you're under to finish it on time. Finally I learned about how important it is to have a good idea and sometimes you can spend a lot of your time thinking of one.
If your off just a little by turning in your project STN won't let you turn in your project. This is just one example of how important deadlines are in STN. Another example is filming, you have a short amount of time to get the shots that you need for your project. Then if you don't meet the deadline of editing you can not edit. Overall deadlines are very important in STN.
Stress is a big factor, you have a short amount of time and you're on the rush to make it on time. Sometimes when I had stress was when we were short of a lot of shots and we only had an hour to film. Another time was when we were thinking of our idea and we wasted a lot of our filming time thinking of an idea. Overall stress can take over but as long as you stay calm it won't slow you down.
Thinking of a good idea in STN is very hard. Your time thinking of ideas and filming are intertwined so you don't want to take up too much time thinking of one. We took a lot of time thinking of an idea, we just couldn't find a good one, I thought we were going to run out of time filming. Although I'm glad we took the extra time to think of one. Overall thinking of an idea is very important in creating your project.
In summary learned a lot from STN and I'm very glad I went. There are so many factors that play into making a good STN project. Deadlines can really put you on a restriction. Deadlines can cause stress which can slow you down.
