My first week of media has been going good, it seems like it is a lot of work but there seems like some awesome benefits. I got to learn the all the different jobs of the announcements which was cool and different. I also got to meet my partner Kallen he is in 8th grade and has been featured on Hiki No a few times. The technology in the class is very cool yet very expensive which makes me a little nervous when using it.
The announcements is made up of 9 jobs, the two announcers, the two cameramen, the floor manager, the titler, the technological directer, sound directer, and the directer. The announcers announce everything that is going on that day. The cameramen adjust the cameras and and take out the scripts when the announcers are done announcing them. The floor manager just does the countdown before the recording starts. The titler put up the opening and ending videos as well as the titles. The technological directer switches between the cameras, and the directer tells everyone what to do.
Kallen, my partner is in 8th grade and knows a lot about media. He has been on Hiki No a few times, one of my favorite projects by Kallen is Papa Fu it is about a man who is 101, it tells about his secret to long life. Another one of Kallen's Projects is Hanapepe Nights it talks about Friday Nights in Hanapepe which is an event that allows people to share the products/food and for all the locals and visitors to enjoy.
The technology in this class is amazing from the expensive cameras to the MacBook pros that we get to take home. The cameras for the announcements are really cool they are reflective so the scripts appear to be on the lens of the camera. There is a software called the tricaster it is really cool it allows you to switch between cameras and put any videos or titles that you want to on the broadcast, this software is used for the morning announcements. Sometimes when we are talking about how we have to be really careful when using this tech it makes me think how easily they could break and how much it would cost to replace which makes me pretty nervous.
My first week of media has been awesome there is defiantly a lot of work to be done but will be well worth it. My partner Kallen seems really good at media. Finally the tech is awesome but delicate. Overall my first week has been going really good.
