Hey guys so for this week's blog I wanted to talk about a video I saw on YouTube of a calligrapher. His name is Seb Lester he can draw many cool things with just pens. He can draw logos that look like they were printed. He can write in fonts that look like they were from Microsoft word. He can do anything with a pen, for example he taped two pens together and made really cool text. There is a video of him doing these things on YouTube with two million views. In conclusion Seb Lester is an amazing calligrapher.

1st quarter projects have been finished and we moved on to 2nd quarter. Me and Kallen have come up with our idea, we are going to do it on the Kukui’ula Wednesday culinary market. although we are still trying to find a good so what. We don't have any interviewees but we have an idea on who we are going to interview. Finally I really want to meet the deadlines quarter because last quarter didn't turn out
So I think our idea will make a great story. The Kukui’ula Wednesday culinary market has only locally grown meats and produce. In addition there is live music for everyone to enjoy the vendors are quite friendly. Finally the consumers are all nice and everyone is showing the aloha spirit.
With all that in mind we still haven't found a really good “So What?”. I thought that only island grown meats and produce was a good one but Kallen said most markets are like that. The music could be one but it's not really that different or cool. “Everyone shows the aloha spirit and it shows what vendors can do”, that might be my “So What?” although I have a feeling Mr. M is going to disapprove it.
Interviewees were never a problem last quarter being that we just interviewed council members. I do have an idea for who I'm going to interview this quarter, the consumers, the vendors, and the shop owners. I'm am going to interview the consumers because they are the ones who are actually using the market. I am going to interview the vendors because they are there every week getting first hand experience on the specialties of the market. Finally I'm going to interview shop owners to see what they think of the market.
In conclusion on project is going pretty good but there's definitely some stuff we need to do. Meeting deadlines is a hard thing but I definitely procrastinated on it last quarter. I think we have a good idea and if we meet all the deadlines on time we will have a great project.
Hey guys so on thursday I went with a few of my friends and my church to film trailer for a zombie maze. The costumes and makeup was very scary and it was lots of fun filming it. The cameraman used a 60D with a tripod. I got to be one of the zombie hunters so the zombies were trying to kill me. I had a paintball gun and I was shooting the zombies. I love being part of things like these because it makes realize how much work goes into movies.
Practice makes perfect. For today's blog i'm going to talk about a time when I practice a lot and it it made me become better. I am going to talk about when I started bodyboarding. In the beginning I had a horrible board and I could barely turn. Then I got a better board and learned how to turn good and how to have a good stance. Now, I'm learning how to do tricks.
I started bodyboarding because all my friends did. I started with a junkie board that was way to big for me. Eventually learned how to turn and got a bit better. I started riding bigger waves and was begging to catch up with my friends. I decided it was time for an upgrade.
I got a better board and had way more control. I could now turn sharp and get barreled really easy. I eventually realize one thing, I was catching waves for one second and then wiping out. So I started asking my friends how to improve this, they said that I just needed a better stance and i had to go to better breaks. I took their advice and got way better and bodyboarding became way funner.
I thought I was begging to come really good until I realized I couldn’t do tricks. Every professional I saw could do tricks. So I trid, and tried, and tried. I just couldn't do them, so asked my friends again and they said I should start with sandsliding. Sandsliding is where you go to shorebreak waves and run up to the waves and to a trick off of them. I started getting pretty good and now i'm beginning to master the backflip.
In conclusion practice really does make perfect. As you can see I started from the bottom. Now I can almost always land a backflip. There is so many possibilities if you just practice.
Hey guys so this weekend I went camping and made a movie. We made Robinhood with my church, I was one of the knights. The cameraman used a 60D with a stabilizer and filmed in some unusual angles. He filmed laying down on the ground when two people walked up next to him, this created a cool effect. The props looked authentic and were fun to use. The plot was good, the camera angles were good, and the props were good in addition it was very fun to be in the movie. In conclusion this weekend I went to koke'e and filmed a cool movie.
So first quarter has ended and reflecting back it has been hard but worth it when you make that cool video. Although there are some things I want to work on in second quarter. To start off I want to work on getting my blogs done earlier. I also want to work on getting my project done as soon as possible. In addition I want to learn how to edit.
Blogs have always been a weak spot for me. I normally just seem to forget with all of the distractions of the weekend. This is why I want to work on getting them done earlier. I am going to set alarms to remind me to get them done on Saturday. I am also going to try to get them done in class.
Last quarters project was a disaster. Kallen was sick for the last week so I had to film B-Roll by my self. I couldn't edit the project because Kallen keeps his work on a hard drive. In addition when we were done Kallen lost his hard drive so I still haven't posted my project. So this quarter I want to get everything done before the deadlines.
I know very little about editing, I didn't do any in the first quarter. I do no a little although, I learned how to do Ken Burns and record voice overs, in addition I learned how to put titles in and how to add videos to your project. So in second quarter I want to learn how to edit. I think this might be a good skill to know later in life. I want to edit the whole project in second quarter.
In conclusion there are a lot things I want to work on in second quarter. I want to do my blogs earlier because I want it get a good grade. I want to get my project done earlier because it was late last quarter. Finally I want to learn how to edit because I might give me skills later in life.
My name is Erik I am currently in 6th grade. In my free time I like getting videos of waves, and putting them together to make edits. I also like taking pictures of waves.
